Define what goes into a product, and plan the build.
What you will learn
- How a bill of materials lists the components for a product.
- How the BOM planner breaks down sub-components and lead times.
- How kitting and made-to-order use the BOM.
Overview
The Bill of Materials function tracks the components and materials needed to produce a final product, a detailed breakdown of sub-assemblies, parts and materials, with inventory levels and lead times for each component. The BOM planner breaks down sub-components interactively and supports assembler and disassembler operations for product transformations.
Features in this function
- BOM Editor – create and edit a bill of materials
- BOM Planner – plan the build and its components
Highlights
Enabling made-to-order
A BOM lets a sales order pull made-to-order through production, transforming components into the finished item.
Alternate production shortcut
The planner can flatten sub-recipes and calculate quantities and lead times across multiple levels.
