Raise a manufacture order

What this does

A manufacture order is the plan to make something. It is usually generated from a sales order, so you build exactly what a customer has bought.

Open Manufacture Order

Go to Menu > Production > Manufacture Order and click Create.

Steps

  1. Set the Source Type (typically Sale Order) and the source document, plus a Due Complete date and Location.
  2. The order reads the Bill of Materials behind the items, so it knows the components needed.
  3. Use the Parts Alloc. tab to reserve the components from stock, so they are held for this build.
  4. Generate the Batch Order(s) to carry out the work, and track progress to Completion.
Good to know. Reserving parts holds stock against this order, so a build in progress will not have its components sold out from under it.
