What this does
A manufacture order is the plan to make something. It is usually generated from a sales order, so you build exactly what a customer has bought.
Open Manufacture Order
Go to Menu > Production > Manufacture Order and click Create.
Steps
- Set the Source Type (typically Sale Order) and the source document, plus a Due Complete date and Location.
- The order reads the Bill of Materials behind the items, so it knows the components needed.
- Use the Parts Alloc. tab to reserve the components from stock, so they are held for this build.
- Generate the Batch Order(s) to carry out the work, and track progress to Completion.
Good to know. Reserving parts holds stock against this order, so a build in progress will not have its components sold out from under it.
