Jump Search

Last updated: August 16, 2026

One search box for menu pages, reports and live records, opened from anywhere with a keystroke.

What you will learn
  • How to open Jump Search and how results are ordered
  • What it can find, from menu pages to a single invoice or ticket
  • How results are scoped to what you can actually access
  • Where to turn it off if you prefer not to use it

Overview

Press Ctrl+K or F10 from anywhere in Cloudby and a search box opens instantly. Results arrive in tiers rather than all at once. The first match against menu pages appears immediately with no network round trip, since the menu is already known to your browser. As you keep typing, a short pause triggers a search against reports and Explorer charts. A moment after that, a search against your actual records runs, customers, invoices, quotations, deliveries, tickets, projects, employees, fixed assets and more, each shown with the entity type it belongs to and, for a document, the customer or vendor it is tied to.

Typing part of a name is enough

You do not need an exact match. Typing a fragment of a customer name, for example, returns the customer record itself alongside every invoice, quotation and delivery tied to them, grouped together rather than requiring you to search each document type separately. A handful of rarely-used administrative tools, such as data porting and the document overrider, only surface on a strong exact or prefix match rather than a loose one, so a short, common query does not get crowded out by them.

Scoped to what you can see

Jump Search never crosses organizations, and within an organization it respects the same module permissions as everywhere else: a record or tool you do not have access to simply does not appear in your results, even on an exact match.

Turning it off. An administrator can disable Jump Search for the organization under Settings > Maintenance > Default, in the Navigation section. It is on by default for every organization.
